At Bliss Pools, our goal is to create a cohesive environment where the pool and the patio feel like one unified resort. In our latest completed project, we showcased exactly how to achieve that balance using matching materials and thoughtful engineering.
From the expansive travertine decking to the custom outdoor fireplace structure, this backyard transformation “turned out great.” Here is a closer look at the details of this beautiful build.
Travertine Decking and Custom Water Features
The foundation of this project is the stunning travertine decking that runs all the way around the pool. Travertine stays cool underfoot during hot Texas summers and provides a timeless, elegant look.
To add movement and sound to the design, we incorporated multiple water features:
-
Sheer Descents: We installed sleek water shears on the back raised wall.
-
12-Foot Stacked Stone Feature: The centerpiece of the pool is a massive 12-foot long stacked stone water wall. It looks incredibly cool visually, but practically, it provides the perfect acoustic backdrop—a soothing sound that is “not too overwhelming.”
The Outdoor Living Structure
A pool is often best enjoyed with a shaded area to relax nearby. For this project, we built a robust fireplace structure designed for year-round comfort.
The craftsmanship really shines in the ceiling details:
-
Stained Tongue and Groove Ceiling: Adds warmth and a rustic-modern feel.
-
Comfort & Lighting: Equipped with can lights and a ceiling fan to keep the air moving on warm days.
Cohesive Design: Matching the Pool to the Patio
Design consistency is key to a luxury look. We used split-face travertine on the outdoor fireplace to perfectly match the materials used inside the pool. This repetition of texture ties the two distinct areas—the water and the lounge—into one seamless visual experience.
It’s All in the Details: Integrated Planters
A great pool builder thinks about more than just the water; we think about the landscaping that will surround it.
On the columns surrounding the pool area, we integrated custom planters. However, we didn’t just build the boxes; we engineered them for long-term maintenance.
-
Drainage: We ran drain lines up through the planters so excess water never pools or stains the stonework.
-
Irrigation: We pre-plumbed irrigation lines directly into the planters.
This means the homeowners can keep their plants lush and green without dragging hoses across their beautiful new deck.
